Position Summary
The Assistant Manager: Asset will manage the asset management function, including accurate reporting, record maintenance, budget management, and compliance. The role requires solid financial knowledge, internal control skills, and experience supervising financial teams.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
Candidates must meet the following criteria:

National Diploma or Degree (NQF Level 6 or 7) in Asset Management, Finance, or Property Valuation

At least 5 to 8 years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years at a supervisory level

Good understanding of municipal financial frameworks and compliance procedures
Key Responsibilities

Supervise Financial Clerks and Officers
-
Prepare and manage capital project schedules
-
Compile and submit financial and audit reports
-
Oversee cash flow and maintain loan and investment registers
-
Assist departments with petty cash and financial system usage
-
Calculate asset depreciation and manage the asset register
-
Coordinate verification processes with the District Council
-
Reconcile control accounts and manage payments
-
Approve insurance claims and financial documents
-
Participate in budget preparation and ensure asset value alignment

Manage cheque signing and capital interest accuracy
Key Competencies and Attributes

Strong knowledge of municipal finance, asset management, and relevant legislation

Leadership and project coordination skills

Ability to develop financial measures and manage risks

Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Experience in budget management, performance tracking, and internal auditing
